You're either going to LOVE ME or HATE ME after reading this post!
It's NAUGHTY, but DELICIOUS! And definitely bears repeating! :-)

===================

I know.....I know.....I've been posting some "naughty" recipes lately! (Sorry Sharon! Luckily she's on vacation and HOPEFULLY won't see this!)

But when I saw these recipes with Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew as ingredients...I simply couldn't help myself! :-)  How's this for justification.......if I make these desserts....maybe we won't drink so much soda!!!!   HA!  I can rationalize anything! :-)

So I present to you (without further apology!) Dr. Pepper Chocolate Cake from She Wears Many Hats....and Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings from Or So She Says...

Dr. Pepper Chocolate Cake
(adapted from “Cracker Barrel Double Fudge Coca-Cola Cake Recipe”)

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup Dr. Pepper soda
1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
1 stick salted butter (8 tablespoons)
4 tablespoons cocoa powder (again, I used Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder)
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F and grease or spray with cooking spray a 13x9x2″ baking pan.
Begin by combining the Dr. Pepper, oil, butter and cocoa powder in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a simmer, mix well and turn stove off.
Mix dry ingredients together (sugar, flour and baking soda), add to mixture in saucepan and mix well, by hand. Don’t over beat. DO NOT OVER BEAT.
In a separate small bowl lightly beat the eggs and buttermilk together, then add them to the saucepan and combine batter well by hand, but again, do not over beat.
Pour into a greased baking pan and bake at 350° for approx. 23-28 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Be careful not to over bake.

Preparation time: 15 minute(s)
Cooking time: 23-28 minutes:   makes one 13x9x2″ baking pan

Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings
from The Pioneer Woman

2 sticks butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tubes crescent rolls
2 granny smith apples
12 ounces of Mountain Dew
Cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream

Directions: Peel and slice your apples. Wrap each slice in a crescent dough triangle and place in sprayed (greased) pan. In a bowl, melt your butter and stir in sugar and vanilla. Pour over top of the wrapped apples....or spread on top with a spoon. Pour the Mt. Dew all around and sprinkle with Cinnamon. Place in 350 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
I really think the KEY to this dessert would be serving it with ICE CREAM! :-)

I'm soooooooooooooooo hungry!!!!!!!!!!

  3. So glad you liked them Peace and Love! My kids think ANYTHING is better with Mt Dew! They might be right! ;-)

Anony.....I rarely have buttermilk on hand when I need it...so I usually substitute regular milk and add just a little Cream of Tartar to it.

I have a whole list of RECIPE SUBSTITUTIONS here that might be helpful. :-) Thanks for stopping by!
