Facing Your Fears and Fueling Your Dreams!

I hope you will indulge me today....this post is going to be "all about me". You see....I quit my "real job" this week, (yep, I really did), and last night I started having massive anxiety about my decision.

Don't get me wrong...this has been a dream of mine for quite awhile now...and thanks to all of you and the incredibly happy surprise the success of this blog has turned out to be...my dream is coming true! A dream of "being my own boss" and of being able to be the author of more of my own story.

But with success (at least for me), there always seems to be a bit of doubt that manages to sneak in uninvited. A complete party crasher. For those who have read "About Me"...you can definitely see an undercurrent of self-sabotage that lurks within. Something I continue to deal with "One Day At A Time."

Last night, in an effort to learn more about this blog world that will now replace my "real job", I actually ended up freaking myself out. Reading about those who have been wildly successful at the thing you are trying to accomplish yourself can be a double-edged sword. On one hand my spirit soars at the infinite possibilities that there are to explore...while my other hand suddenly goes limp and is paralyzed with fear and misgivings about what "madness" I am pursuing!

So as cliche as it may sound....I turned to my friend Pinterest for comfort and inspiration. Actually, I turned to myself and the many "words of wisdom" I have pinned there over the last several months with no real purpose in mind. Just words that have resonated with me for one reason or another. Words that tonight, helped me to remember all the good reasons I had for quitting my "real job" and the dreams I have stored in my heart that are just waiting on me to be brave and get started!

So here are some of those words that tonight helped me to set aside the negative thoughts I was entertaining (well, most of them) and refocus on goals and aspirations that continue to inspire and fill me with excitement and hope.

I hope a word or two will touch you as well.  And thanks again....for indulging me today. :-)

And last but not least........

Facing fears and fueling dreams is today's.....

  10. Jill...I enjoyed reading your story and appreciate your honesty in sharing. We sometimes think everyone else has it all together and it benefits everyone to share our struggles.. I wondered if you are a Christian? I enjoy reading your blog everyday and implementing ideas....keep up the great work!

  12. Jill, reading your blog is interesting, helpful and a 'sanity break' to me. Since I found you via Pinterest, I've been inspired and encouraged to try new things around my home. Using the technique with the microfiber cloths you taught resulted in the many mirrors in my home being streak free! I can't tell you how many products and tools I've tried only to end up frustrated because they did not work!I think you are really good at this , using the gifts and talents God gave you. I appreciate you and what you are doing.

  13. My sister sent me your blog today with the words: "I think you are on the same path." I too quit my "real" job and am in the process of figuring out what is next for me. I really relate to everything you wrote and love your quotes. I am also blogging about this process at www.livingwithhandswideopen.blogspot.com and I have a pinterest board where I collect words of encouragement for myself. I am looking forward to following your journey. Good luck and keep the faith!! Today you reminded me to do the same. Thank you!!

  16. Congratulations! I'm a recent reader and just yesterday tried your miracle cleaner :) I'm a SAHM and what you've said about FINDING YOUR PASSION really resonates with me. I've been blogging for YEARS and have just started trying to write with the intent to publish. WOuld you share a little more about how you've found success with blogging? It's a journaling outlet for me and that's great, but I am curious how people turn their blogs into their income producing job... WOW!

    So...thank you for this.

  20. Wow...I can't tell you how much all of your comments have meant to me! I honestly thought this was going to be one of those posts that largely went unread since it was rather self-indulgent, but I'm so happy that is meant something to some of you as well.
And thank you for all the words of encouragement. I am going to print them out and keep them in a very handy place for those times when I need to give myself a little pep talk. :-)
Debbie: you can follow me on Pinterest here: http://pinterest.com/jnystul or there is a link on the left hand side of this page near the top.

J-ROK: I am still learning...but I'd be happy to share what I know SO FAR (I have a LONG way to go!) in a future post. I'll keep ya "posted". ;-)

Thank you all again. I'm feeling so much better about things tonight. This is going to be so exciting!! I hope you all come along for the ride! :-)

  25. Jill - I'm SO excited for you. When I first found your blog, I couldn't believe you still had a "real job." I wondered when this would take flight enough to be your sole source. I've loved this blog since I found it (a few months ago). Some of the greatest, most affordable, and creative ideas have come from here. I've shared many things with my sister, and just last week, she asked, "Did you get that from Jillee?" So, congratulations. You deserve to enjoy what really does it for you. Can't wait to see what good things keep coming our way!

  26. Jill, thanks for all the great ideas! I have no doubt that you'll make whatever you choose to do work. And, thanks for the "words of wisdom" that you shared above. I, too, have made the decision to leave my place of employment, although for different reasons. I am having a difficult time now with that decision. Not sure I will be able to make it, as I'm single with no other income. It's a decision I have had to make for my health. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has the "self-doubt".
    Good luck in your endeavors!

  27. Jillee, of all of the awesomeness that is Pinterest, finding your blog is up there at the top. You will do SO well because you write what you know and do it well. I seem to remember something about God not calling the equipped, but equipping the called...hmmm?

  28. I could not have stumbled upon this and read it at a better time. I just got to your blog via Pinterest and found this post. My sister and I just began our own business and it is taking off like crazy! I have a corporate job right now but in the future would like to get out of it and do what I LOVE. These quotes are amazing and I can't thank you enough for sharing, good luck with your journey!

  29. Once again, I am warmed by all your responses to a post I really didn't expect much reaction from. It seems it's a subject that many can relate to. Understandably so I guess. We all run up against situations in life we are unfamiliar with and apprehensive about. But it's nice when we can share those feelings with each other and hopefully draw strength to face whatever comes our way. :-) Best wishes to ALL of us as we pursue our dreams!

Please post a comment if you feel so inclined! I love reading your thoughts and suggestions! And let's just face it....we're a lot smarter collectively...than individually. :-)
