I saw this idea from Annily Green on Pinterest yesterday and HAD to try it! Immediately! :-)
So last night at the grocery store I picked up this four-pack of strawberry yogurt singles, came home, poked in the four popsicle sticks and popped them in the freezer. (Annie used spoons, but the popsicle sticks worked great!)
This morning I had toasted English Muffin Bread for breakfast...mmmmm can't get enough of that stuff...and completely forgot about my yogurt treats in the freezer.
About 10:00am my internal "I need a snack" alarm went off and I went in search of something to feed the need. After several minutes of unsuccessful foraging in the kitchen I remembered the frozen morsels waiting for me in the freezer! I separated the cups, dipped one in some warm water for 5 to 10 seconds, slipped off the plastic cup and snack time was ON!
What I LOVE about this frozen treat:
They're FROZEN...duh! I am such a sucker for just about anything (within reason of course!) frozen! I love frozen grapes, bananas, cookies, candy bars, etc, etc, etc .......and now YOGURT!
They are the PERFECT SNACK SIZE! I chose the Activia yogurt singles because they were 4 ounces each instead of the 6 ounces that most of the other brands are. It really was the perfect size. Although I don't think 2 more ounces would be too bad. :-)
They're EASY and ECONOMICAL, yet still seem like a bit of an indulgence.
Oh....and they're DELICIOUS!
Anyway...these made my mouth and tummy so happy...I just had to share! Enjoy! :-)

This is a fantastic idea! I always pore yoghurt into iceblock makers this would be alot faster and easier :D I follow your blog would love you to check out my blog and follow back :D

ReplyDeleteHello Jill,
ReplyDeletei like yr site, its very intresting and helpfull:]
pls come to my blog, and follow:)
greet,
I.C.
I am quickly becoming obsessed with these! I bought the blueberry ones today! YUMMMMMMM!
ReplyDeleteAgain ....YOU ROCK!
ReplyDeleteSince individual small packages of yogurt can be soooooo expensive. I would buy them ONCE, then SAVE the small containers and REuse them and fill with yogurt from the 1 litre containers. WOULD SAVE SOOOO MUCH MONEY :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea, but do you know if freezing the yogurt kills the live active yogurt cultures? Just curious. Love your site btw!!
ReplyDeleteIt does kill the live cultures from what I have read. But its still a healthy treat ...
ReplyDeleteIf you freeze yogurt, it kills some live cultures, but there are billions in a yogurt container. They simply become dormant and are reactivated once eaten or thawed.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this great idea! I cannot wait to try it.
