Sarah at Sarah.Wandering. made this DIY Dog Bed for her dog Lucy for $9.00 from IKEA rugs!

It took 3 Signe Rugs that were $2.99 each. She stitched them together, and filled with batting from a leftover project (she figured it was about $10 worth of battling)And there you have it....a rugged, durable and washable custom dog bed.
Lucy looks pretty happy. ;-)

Now that is one really nice dog bed.
ReplyDeleteI like to fill throw pillows with stuffing from pillows that just aren't nice enough to use for our heads anymore. I wash the pillow before using the stuffing for filling in other pillows. Batting is expensive and we always seem to have a few lousy pillows around here.
ReplyDeleteI love this! so doing it next time I visit IKEA... thanks!

NaDell...what a great idea!! I always have old pillows too! I'm definitely going to start a stuffing collection.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Emily. :-)
OMG what a small world!!! I am reading your blog for the very first time (fantastic BTW!!!) as it was a shared link on my Facebook page. I saw this post, clicked on it and it turns out this blog is by a girl I went to college with here in Toronto, Canada!!!! Crazy, crazy!!! Keep up the good blogging posts!!!
ReplyDeleteAnony...that is so crazy! lol. Yes...the internet can be a very small world indeed...sometimes. Glad you liked the blog...hope you keep coming back. :-)
ReplyDeleteinstead of batting, you could buy some cheap pillows at Walmart. They have standard size for about $2.50 each. 2 pillows would make a nice soft bed.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think I'll do this soon... and I can make it as big as I need for my two little dogs! An idea I will share and try (adaptation from my pinterest perusing), apply hot glue in a zig zag pattern (or you could write secret messages) across the bottom to prevent the bed from sliding on hardwood floors.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I did something similar with cheap bed pillows from the dollar store for my two little dogs!
