I absolutely LOVE this idea! I can't believe I haven't heard about it before now. My sister sent me the link yesterday and the first thing I did was start searching for some Post-It Notes! (Alas, I didn't have any, but I am going to buy some more today!)
Sorry...I got a little excited. Let me back up a step and explain what I'm talking about.
The idea behind this website and the mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other people to find. Notes that remind us WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL. You are enough... just the way you are!
Each day the website posts a suggested "Post-It Phrase Of The Day". Today's is: “Every moment of your life, including this one, is a fresh start.” Of course you can come up with your own. Just jot it down on a Post-It and leave it in a public place for someone else to find.
Just think...you stop in to use the restroom at the local convenience store and see THIS stuck to the mirror:
I don't know about you....but that would pretty much MAKE MY WEEK! :-) It really takes so little to raise the level of happiness in the world....if we all just make an effort.
So as soon as you are done reading this...I want you to go search for a pad of Post-It Notes. If you're at work, that shouldn't be too hard. :-) Then I challenge you to write something uplifting/inspirational/motivating, etc on TEN of them (have your kids, your friends, your Mom, whoever, help you!), and stick them in your purse or wallet or coat pocket so you'll have them ready the next time you are "out and about". Put one on someone's car windshield, or on a gym locker, or a bathroom mirror. The possibilities are endless! If you think about it, take a picture with your phone and email it to me. I'll post them as I get them!
Operation Beautiful COMMENCE!
Update: 2/25/2012
Here are a couple of pictures from my trip to Walmart yesterday. I left my notes in the diaper aisle (I thought Mom's with young children could use a pick-me-up!) and in the cosmetics aisle. :-) I had such fun doing it...can't wait to do some more!

After watching the Banksy documentary my husband and I got into the spirit of street art. Not being gutsy enough to do graffiti, we posted a bunch of silly papers instead. We did this to celebrate our anniversary- it was a fun and memorable day!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I think I'm going to have to start posting it for my staff in their classrooms!
ReplyDeleteI wish you worked at my school!
Deletei've seen this before and did it for my girlfriends for a while - love the idea of doing so anonymously and widespread...
ReplyDeleteyanno - somewhere on pintrest there was a thing about how to print on postits... now I gotta find that...

ReplyDeletea group i belong to calls these 'bumper stickers' for life. we post them for ourselves - to remind us of goals we set for ourselves, to remind us to seek help when we need to, to leave encouragement for loved ones, etc. i like the idea of doing it for strangers too. thanks for sharing!
