I will admit right here, right now, I am TERRIBLE at drinking enough water! I am always looking for ways to be a better water drinker...but I never actually DO it. I'm really not sure what my block is (other than the fact that I drink WAY too much Diet Coke!)...but I really do struggle with this!
So when I heard about Sassy Water...I decided this was made just for me!
Sassy Water is named after Cynthia Sass co-author of the New York Times Bestseller "The Flat Belly Diet". But even if you're not following the diet, Sassy Water gives the BORING mandate to "drink 8 glasses of water a day" a little bit of ZING!It is also supposed to calm your gastro-intestinal tract, and it makes it easy to tell if you have finished your goal for the day! (I like that part.)
So as much as it pains me to say this...I am going to try the Sassy Water idea and see how it goes. I am not going to stop drinking Diet Coke...yet. But my theory is that after drinking all this water...Diet Coke won't have the same appeal. We'll see how that theory pans out. :-)
Who's with me???

1 pitcher
8 1/2 cups water (ideally filtered water)

1 medium lemon, sliced thin (a digestive aid and liver cleanser)
12 leaves spearmint
Directions:
1 Mix all ingredients together in a pitcher.
2 Refrigerate overnight.
3 Strain water.
4 Drink all 8 1/2 cups during the day.
Sprucing up plain water is today's.....

That sounds really good! I will have to try that for sure. I am always looking for ways to kick the soda habit when you consider what is in them and how bad they are for you... I just never can get myself to drink as much water as I should either. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good. I find if I have a water bottle of some sort to carry around with me, I do much better about getting my water in. I have given myself the rule, when I finish one of my 32oz water bottles, I can have a cup of coffee or a diet coke and not until. I am usually able to get 2 bottles of water in because I really want the coffee or diet coke...lol. Thanks for sharing and I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm in! I joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago (5.5 pounds down..thank you very much) and they also want you to drink tons of water. I love water straight so this will be a real treat and should make it easier to get it all in. In additions to cleaning my face with Oil, drinking a lot of water is making such a difference in my complexion.
ReplyDeleteI need to do this!
ReplyDeletehmm, I'll try it, although will have to put in a water bottle to drink.. don't know why, but I have an aversion to drinking out of a glass..
ReplyDeleteJill, I too struggle with drinking enough water (I love the diet coke). I've been working on losing weight for about a year and I know how important drinking enough water is and how it affects my weight loss. (I've lost 65lbs so far). This sounds like it will be a big help as well as drinking from a bottle for me. For some crazy reason I don't like drinking water from a glass either. Thanks for the tip. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your blog. (I'm praying for you.)
ReplyDeleteI've used this for years and it really is great. The taste is great and the bloat-release is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI HATE water, it's so darn boring. I find drinking sassy water at room temperature is the best way to get my daily dose. I also know that I feel SO much better when I increase my water intake. Less headaches, less snack cravings, my skin looks better. If only I could make it a habit!
I made my first pitcher of this, it is delicious!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to try this .... but let's see.....where can I find Spearmint Leaves?????
ReplyDeleteI love naturally flavored water. My favorite so far is simply one lime and one orange cut up and left in a pitcher overnight. I look forward to trying this new recipe, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this recipe! I too was (am) a diet coke addict. I slipped today but I did give it up about 3 months ago. My secret, excedrin. It contains caffine so you can ween yourself down w/o the headaches and sluggish feeling. The 1st 2 days I took one. The next 2 days half. The next 2 days just a quater. Worked like a charm. I'm less bloated and have tons more energy. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm just like the rest of you when it comes to drinking water... Its not that I hate it, its just that I'd rather have a diet coke. I've found that drinking out of a glass/cup WITH A STRAW helps me. I don't know why, but putting some ice in a glass, filling it up with water, and popping a straw in WORKS.
ReplyDeleteI have made mine and I like everything except the cucumber taste. I didn't think I would like the ginger but I do. Here's to more water and less of me on the scales!
ReplyDeleteAnony...I had the same experience. But then I realized I didn't PEEL the cucumbers. The next batch I used PEELED cucumber slices (and only half a cucumber instead of a whole one) and it was MUCH better. :-)
ReplyDeleteTried making this a couple days ago but was really struggling to strain the water....how in the world??? Could you put the ginger in cheesecloth, then just throw away? I did use only half a cucumber and the flavor was certainly still there. I'm not much of a lemon flavor lover but it was so light that I couldn't really taste it at all. I couldn't find spearmint leaves anywhere either. I like this water and would drink it a lot BUT the straining thing has me baffled. I have tried a lot of your homemade ideas and have been impressed with their awesome ability to clean!!!! Cheap and works --- AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAnony...I simple strained ours through a small wire strainer. Is that what you were wondering about?
ReplyDeleteDoes the ginger gets strained? If not, doesn't your water have a cloudy look to it? Your picture looks so clear............
ReplyDeleteUse whole ginger, not ground.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! You can also freeze them in separate bags to put in water bottles (I have glass water bottle/canisters) when we're on the go
ReplyDeleteI am a diehard Dr. Pepper lover and have always had a hard time with getting my daily requirement of H2O in. I got a Camelbak water bottle with the "bite and suck" valve and find myself refilling it 3 or 4 times a day if I have it with me. I was way hesitant to spend $15 on a water bottle, but this one has most definitely been worth it. Can't wait to fill it with "Sassy Water" Thanks for the recipe. Michelle
ReplyDeleteI love this idea and have used it myself, there is an easier way to do this daily mix, just add a few drops of slim and sassy from doterra! it is amazing and has the same if not better results. I am not sure if you allow others to post sites on here, you can remove the post if you need to , just thought I would share where to get it ...blessings kat
