Frozen Yogurt Dots!

Here it is...another installment of Jillee's Favorite Frozen Treats!  Everytime I see an idea for a new frozen treat idea...I can hardly WAIT to try it! This one was NO exception! Saw this on Pinterest and knew it was MADE JUST FOR ME! :-)

As much as I love the Frozen Yogurt Pops that I posted about a couple of weeks ago and have since probably eaten at least a dozen of! This idea had a different kind of appeal because I was pretty sure even my picky eaters who don't like the yogurt with fruit pieces mixed into it would like these plain, flavored dots! And I was right!  They ate them like candy! After all, they look like they COULD be candy. :-)  But they are frozen, creamy deliciousness!  MUCH better in my book. :-)

Oh and they freeze SUPER FAST! So if you're in a hurry for your frozen snack....pop some dots in the freezer and in less than an hour from now you'll be enjoying your own delicious creamy treat!

  2. I barely made it thru the whole post before I whipped up a batch. Genius!
It's just a matter of time sister - you're gonna rule the world.

  3. I have a yogurt-a-holic! We have tried just freezing a container and sticking the spoon in the top but it was a little hard for my daughter to eat. OMG I saw this and I am super excited to try it!! I will be throwing a batch together as soon as I am done here!!! Thanks a Bunch!

  9. O my...why have I not done this before? Awesome!

  10. I made some with pear flavored Light&Fit. It really makes one little container of yogurt seem a lot bigger! The only problem I had was I forgot about the pear pieces in it and it kind of exploded my bag when it got caught at the tip. So keep that in mind if you are using yogurt with fruit in it. After that I paid attention and would gently squeeze the tip to get the fruit out without exploding. They are in the freezer right now! I can't wait!

  11. What a wonderful idea! Would these yogurt dots stay frozen if they were packed in a kids lunch box??

  12. I'm wondering if our rabbit would like these too?

  13. I just made these and they were so good! easy too! Thanks for the great idea!

  14. What a GREAT idea!!! Think I'll make a big batch and keep them in the freezer for noshing AND for throwing into my son's breakfast smoothies. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I bet I could use this method to freeze my green smoothies so they kids could eat it straight out of the freezer (I'd been pouring extra into ice cube trays but then they have to thaw). Thanks for the idea Jillee!

  16. Looks yummy. I love the thick yoplait... will try it tomorrow since I have to go to the store.

  26. I just tried a Dole Smoothie Shaker today and wondered how I could make the little yogurt balls myself so I could refill the shaker and then I stumbled upon this! I'm going to try making them a tiny bit smaller and add them to the shaker along with some chopped up frozen fruit. Thanks!

  29. Jillee, I found this on Pinterest and felt compelled to report it to you. It is your photos off this blog that have post without crediting you and no link. As fellow website owner it infuriates me that people break copyright and steal our work. Here is the Pinterest link...

You can report it a copyright infringement to Pinterest and they will take it down. I've done this 3 times myself. Good luck!

  32. I saw this on Pinterest today and made some! My daughter doesn't care for yogurt much but she ate these up {so did I}. Super easy and they were ready by the time nap time was over!

I'd love if you could link up and share: http://tutusandteaparties.blogspot.com/2012/03/pinteresting-party-week-29.html

  33. Does this change the texture and bitterness (at least to me) when it's frozen? I'd like to eat yogurt, but I can't stand the texture.

Also, if you use non-fat, plain yogurt, you can make these for dogs! :)

  37. THink this would work with greek yogurt?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think it's a great idea but I was wondering how long they stay frozen? Do they start melting right away?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jillee, You have to report them to Pinterest.
Beside the pin you see "Report Pin", click on it and then choose 'Other'. Next click on "Is this your intellectual property?" and that will switch you to a complaint form that you need to fill out. Pinterest will then check through their data and remove the offending pin. You will receive an email from them saying that they have done so.
I'm now at the point where I'm truly considering pulling my work OFF of Pinterest for this very reason. Again Good luck!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I see at least 2 people have asked how long they stay frozen and if they would be good for a kids lunch. Can anyone who has made these please answer that? Thanks much!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I made these the other day and they started to melt as soon as I put them in the bowl....did I do something wrong???

    ReplyDelete
  42. Do these melt easily? Will they stay in the drop form at room temperature? This is such a great idea! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Perfect for my 2 y/o since yogurt tends to be messy!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Seems like an awesome fun idea! Sometimes in the summer you just need a mouthful of something cool!

    ReplyDelete
  45. of course they will NOT stay in the drop form at room temperature..............

    ReplyDelete
  46. it is also really really stupid that you guys are complaining about someone using your ideas. oooh im going to come up with this great idea.. BUT EVERYONE HAS TO GIVE ME CREDIT OR ELSE IM DELETING IT!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Can you make these and put them in a tupperware container in the freezer for later or will they all stick together if you put them in a container together?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I put hem in the freezer but then they melted pretty quickly. Is that suppose to happen or did I miss a step?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I made these today with Key Lime Pie yogurt and they were pretty yummy! However, they don't freeze solid. I froze mine for 3 hours and as soon as you pick one up, they get kinda mushy.

As for the Pinterest ordeal, I think it's kinda foolish to report your pin. All of these people (including myself) are here because we found the pin and thought it was a genius idea! That is bringing a lot of new people to your site to look around and I don't think that's a bad thing at all!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I add a little instant free jello pudding (usually vanilla flavored)to my yogurt - it helps with that bitter taste and the texture. Doesn't take much maybe 1 - 2 teaspoons per 8oz cup.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Obviously the Pinterest link has been reported and fixed. It's working correctly now. That's how I found you today!

I'll answer the question about freezing/melting. Considering that yogurt is about the same texture as ice cream, I would expect these to start melting just as quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  52. These would be even more yummier with frozen grapes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. J'adore cette idée et ne peut pas attendre pour l'essayer. Si j'avais du yogourt je voudrais faire maintenant !!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks, my 2 1/2 year old Son LOVES them

    ReplyDelete
  55. This is just awesome! I make my own yogurt by the gallon....then flavor with 1 box of sugar-free pudding mix per quart....now I can use chocolate pudding mix and freeze it! Yippee! Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Just wondering how do you make your yogurt? And why by the gallon? Is it because it's more convenient to make and store? Doesn't it go bad quickly if it's not consumed right away? Just comparing it to store bought yogurt :)

  56. How long do the drops last out of the freezer? Can you travel with them for a couple hour car ride? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mine didn't work out very well..I used a zero fat yogurt, and when it froze it formed an icy crystal shell with a mushy interior. Maybe it will only work with fatty yogurt?
Also they took like 4 hours to freeze...and ended up looking like frozen puddles...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yup! Mine didn't turn out that great either :( I'll give it another shot with tips from other people in here who suggested the wax paper first. But the first one I made was just too frozen since for my freezer it froze fast. Hence, not getting it to look presentable.

  58. People the problem with the Pinterest link is that MOST people on Pinterest don't know how to pin correctly. They save the picture only and it doesn't link back to the correct site, giving credit where its due. Or letting you get the rest of the info about the pin. So you get a great pic or idea and can't find the directions, recipe or other info about it! I really think they deserve the credit and I would like to be able to see what I have re-pinned correctly!

  59. #1. I think everyone needs to relax about the Pinterest thing. There is never going to be a world where everyone pins the exact same way. Pinning "etiquette" will never be 100%. You are supposed to check the site before you pin. I never do that. I pin it and check it later. As soon as you go to a pin's origin, you cannot go right back to where you were on the Pinterest site. It takes you somewhere else with other pins, so if there's 2 or 3 things right there, you can't find them again.

#2. The yogurt dots are super cute. They take around 2-3 hours to freeze to a solid state. They melt the second you take them out. As soon as you touch one, they start turning back to a liquidy state. Same as frozen yogurt or ice cream does. C'mon...did anyone think these would stay frozen? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  60. what a super idea, my little boy is a huge yogurt fan. I need to do this soon! Thanks for sharing.

  67. yes people, you can take a tiny frozen dot out of a freezer and expect that you can put it in a lunch box or travel for two hours with it and it will stay perfectly frozen. for you i say carry an ice cream cone in your purse and see how that works out for you...

  68. I made these last night and my 2 year old loved them! Great idea! Thanks!

  69. What a great idea! My daughter LOVES yogurt and any kind of frozen treat so when I saw these we instantly went and made some and she is sitting here next to me right now enjoying them! Thanks so much for the great idea :)

  72. Wow... someone is really bitter and sarcastic. Obviously doesn't want their name known and uses "Anonymous". Sure some of the questions have an obvious answer but really, do you have to be all nasty like that. This is a really cute idea and I like it. Too bad there always has to be that one stick in the mud.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hey people, 2 quick tricks I figured out while making these (and I'm sure some of you have figured them out already): line your pan with wax paper (or parchment) to make the dots super easy to remove and nix the clean up. And, once you pop the dots off, put them in a baggie with a tiny bit of corn starch (or powdered sugar), seal and shake. It keeps the drops from clumping together and helps make things less messy while you're eating them. And, thanks for the great idea! My toddler is addicted :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. I am making this right now! I am using plain greek yogurt and adding strawberry flavored protein powder! My kids love it in a bowl, they are really going to love making these!!!

  77. hi jillee,

i too saw this on pinterest...just made them and my kids LOVED them. i would have never thought of this myself nor would have i ever stumbled across your blog had it not been for pinterest....everything on pinterest has a link from the blog it originated from below it...i've discovered many new recipes, as well as great blogs like this one because of pinterest. anyway, great idea on a new way for my kids to eat yogurt!

    ReplyDelete
  78. How is this original? This blog didn't post until March 2nd and Ive seen these long before this month. Ive had pinned on pinterest since Jan. I just happened to do a google search to see if I could find how long they need to freeze for.. The idea of Pinterest is to PIN something you want to make at a later time! Not to "steal" anything from someone!

    ReplyDelete
  79. how long do they last??? will they melt or r they like the graduate freeze dried yogurt drops you can buy at the store.

    ReplyDelete
  80. To keep them chilled you could put them in a small bowl, then place the bowl in a larger bowl full of ice so the ice chills the bottom of the bowl keeping them chilled. Just an idea. I know that works to keep dip chilled for parties.

    ReplyDelete
  81. These are wonderful! Thank you!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. i made these with strawberry yogurt and topped them with a small chocolate chip ! such a delicious snack !

    ReplyDelete
  83. Wow! This is brilliant! Have pinned it!

    ReplyDelete
  84. How fast are your all's kids eating these things? I keep my house pretty cold and all of mine were half-melted within three minutes of removing from the freezer even after freezing for a solid 24 hours.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I need to try these.

And, as far as all the Pinterest complaining goes, I think the main complaint was that people were stealing her pics, not the idea. It's not hard to use Pinterest...just use the "Pin-It" button the provide for you on your browser and Voila! It pins what you want, you get to choose the picture you use and it credits the original website. And when you re-pin, it does the same thing, as long as that pin credited the original site. It isn't rocket science.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh, and to the anonymous person who was being critical of Jillee for not crediting the original pin, she did. If you click on the "Pinterest" in blue at the end of the first paragraph, it's a link to the original pin she found.

    ReplyDelete
  87. OMG i died when i saw these! So cute and i bet they could even be cute to use at a baby shower pink for a girl blue for a boy :) Great for children snacks!

  88. I saw these on pinterest and automatically went to making them. My 18 month old loves the ones gerber makes but this way is so much cheaper. Yes they do melt after a little bit and gerbers dont but these are so much better and easy to make. My daughter at the whole bowl i made today.

  89. THANK YOU Ms Co-Dependent. Let me know when I can return the favor. ;-)

  95. Delicious! A little over an hour from finding the recipe to enjoying our first frozen yogurt dots! Yum! :)

I showed the photos to my 4yo son to see if he wanted to help me make them. He said, skeptically, "Those look like junk food." I said, "No, baby, it's only yogurt, frozen." He smiled and said, "They look yummy!" and then happily helped me make them! :)

It looks like you are using yogurt with "chunks" of fruit in it. Does the tip of the bag clog with fruit? Does the Whipped or Thick & Creamy kind work just as well? My Day Care kids will love this!!! Thanks!!!

  98. Made these today and within 1 minute, my husband, 1 year old and 4 year old gobbled them up. I made another flavor and they disappeared as fast ad the first batch. 100. It is so hard to get my son to eat something - I hate giving him 'junk' so this idea was perfect, I was skeptical but he loves them, I can get him to eat raspberry, key lime pie, strawberry, banana, orange sherbert, blueberry, you name it he likes it in dot form :) I'm actually going through nearly a dozen things of yogurt a week

  101. I dont care who's idea it was, just so glad that it finally filtered down to me! We have ours in the freezer now. We used the whipped yogurt strawberry and put a bit of the chocolate on top. Cant wait to watch my little one eating these! Thanks!
