Frozen Yogurt-Covered Blueberry Bites!

I know....I know....I admit it...I definitely have a frozen yogurt problem. :-)

Every time I see a new way to freeze and eat yogurt...I completely lose my ability to think rationally! I become a one track mind, blinders-wearing, woman on a mission until I have appeased my curiosity/craving for this new treat!

So to those of you who aren't really big fans of yogurt, frozen or otherwise, I apologize. Let me know what I can do to make it up to you. :-)

I have to thank Fluffimama from Adventures of a Fluffimama for these mouth-watering, refreshing, creamy, sweet, tart, icy, heavenly bites! This is the picture I first saw on Pinterest that sucked me in...hook, line and sinker. I mean what's not to love???

I LOVE Greek Yogurt...I LOVE blueberries...
and I LOVE frozen stuff. :-)

And putting these little babies together is about as simple as it gets...although a tad time-consuming. But I actually enjoyed the time I spent doing this. I found myself in a Zen state of mind...clearing away the mental clutter while I dipped and swirled. :-)

Here's how to make your own Frozen Yogurt-Covered Blueberry Bites:

Stick a berry with a bamboo skewer (a toothpick would work too) and dip/swirl it in the yogurt. Then ease it off the end of the skewer and onto a cookie sheet. It's easier to do this if you just barely stick the berry onto the skewer.

Keep dipping and swirling until all of the blueberries are gone or you run out of yogurt (like I did) ...and put them in the freezer. I couldn't believe how FAST these things froze! Literally like 10 or 15 minutes. But I would recommend leaving them in for an hour initially and then pop them off the cookie sheet and into a plastic container or baggie.

Look how many blueberry bites I was able to make with one little carton of blueberries!

Ohhhh...and the taste!! I can only describe them as cold and creamy with a surprise tart and juicy center!  Soooooo good!

Definitely MY kind of treat!  I  hope it will be yours too! :-)

A frozen blueberry treat fit for the Greek Gods is today's.....

  1. Yum! Saving this for a summer treat. I freeze all the fruit I can get my hand on in the summer time. . . surrounded by delicious, creamy yogurt? Added bonus! Thanks!

  2. Oh, my kids would love these...what a great idea! What flavor Greek Yogurt did you use? I have some plain Greet Yogurt in my fridge that I bought on accident (meant to get vanilla) and have been trying to figure out what to do with it as it's not my favorite. Do you think it would taste ok with the blueberries? Or maybe it would work to stir a little honey into the yogurt before dipping?

  3. EmilyM...this is the "traditional" greek yogurt. It says "honey" on it...but I think that's what makes it "traditional"?? I'm pretty new to this greek yogurt stuff. :-) I don't think it would hurt to stir in a little honey before dipping!

  4. Hmm.. instead of dipping each individual blueberry, one at a time, the fun side of me thinks it's more efficient [and messy] to simply dump the blueberries into the yogurt and fish them out by hand. But I like getting messy, so that could just be me. Either way, I'm going to try a variation of this with different fruits/yogurts. YAY for healthy & cool summer treats!

  5. I would put the blueberries on the cookie sheet with some space between, and drip yogurt on each one with a little spoon.

  6. A long time ago my friend taught me to freeze the blueberries then put a handful (all separated by whacking the bag against the counter) into a bowl then pouring milk or half and half over them stirring every so often. They coat themselves! I'm trying this the easy breezy way with yogurt! Thanks for reminding me about how wonderful they are this way!

  9. Saw this post this morning and just got home with all (both) of the ingredients - I even bought the same kind of yogurt so I can be just like you :)

I'll be dipping these while we watch a movie and then we can eat them as a movie treat.

  14. I freeze blueberries and then add about 2/3 cup to a bowl of yogurt. Stir. All the berries get coated and then they also kind of freeze the yogurt. Yummy and makes it a longer lasting snack!

  16. Love it! I have a few questions if anyone wants to test for me. What are they like when they start to thaw and how long would it take for them to thaw? I'm wondering if it'd be a great snack/treat for my son to take to school for his snack. Thanks, Terra

  17. I can't wait to try these! Thanks for the idea. I've been eating the plain greek yogurt (way more protein than 'regular' yogurt and less sugar than the flavored if those are important to anyone) with some splenda and frozen berries added for quite some time but hadn't thought of freezing it like you described. Great Summer treat!

  18. I've got these in the freezer right now- question though... once they are frozen and I pop them off the cookie sheet and put 'em in a bag- do they need to stay frozen?
