Last week our tulip bulbs in the front yard FINALLY started coming up! Ahhhhh....when I see those babies I am finally convinced that Spring is here to stay! :-) I am a huge fan of flowering bulbs! I like them ALMOST as much perennials....and I adore perennials! I mean what's not to like about flowers that keep coming back year after year, getting better and better each time they reappear in the Spring?? I never cease to be amazed that underneath the barren, dead-looking flower beds is another bigger and better version of the plant that so beautifully graced that spot LAST year! Nature is so cool. :-)
Since it seems that everywhere I look I am seeing beautiful bulbs...I thought it might be a nice gesture to share some of Springtime's prettiest offerings to someone who could use a little "pick me up". Little did I know that such a simple concept could take so many detours and end up taking much more effort than originally intended....and yet....turn out perfectly!
I originally bought these potted bulbs from a local florist to give to my niece who has two small children and is pregnant with her 3rd and has really been feeling under the weather. But unfortunately she had decided to go visit Mom and get a much-needed break.
Next I decided I would take them to my Mom who recently took a tumble and hit her head which resulted in two lovely black eyes! Poor Mommy. :-( But I knew that she would NEVER allow me to take her picture while sporting two big shiners. Don't worry...I bought her something else nice. ;-)
Finally, I settled on taking them to the county Children's Justice Center along with some blankets and toys I had been meaning to take over as well. Strike 3. Closed for the entire week due to Spring Break.
Ah well....I tried. I had really good intentions! Just wasn't meant to be I guess.
After "strike three" I was on my way to a meeting and had to stop in Walmart to get a prescription refilled. As I was getting out of my car I realized EXACTLY who I wanted to give my Springtime Pay-It-Forward offering to!
Meet Julie. Walmart greeter extraordinaire. :-) Whenever I go to Walmart and Julie is working I always get the biggest smile and "Hello, Welcome to Walmart" and it just makes my day. I'm a simple person.
It still warms my heart thinking of her response to being given two beautiful potted bulbs completely out of the blue. Complete surprise, but genuine happiness. Just look at that lovely smile! :-)
Thanks for always sharing that smile with me Julie! Happy Spring!
